Hi! I'm Whitney Knox McDaniel, MS, NCC, LPC. I am a born and raised Alabamian, and proud of all that comes with it: football, southern cooking, sweet tea, and Jesus (not necessarily in that order!) I graduated from Clay Chalkville High School, where I participated in Chamber Choir and theatre. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Science from Jacksonville State University. I taught "home ec" for two years before pursuing my Master of Science degree, also at Jacksonville State, in Community Agency Counseling. Upon completing my graduate degree, I took a job with a local mental health agency working with children and families. I then worked several years in substance use and addiction treatment. This is where my interest in wellness, holistic mental health, and nutritional psychology began. This interest grew, and became more of a concern and passion for me as I began planning and dreaming of my own counseling practice.
I will be the first to tell you, I love chocolate and that chicken restaurant that is closed on Sundays, and I'm not exactly a fan of sweating (southern girls glisten, right?!) or exercise. Making healthy choices as often as possible, and striving for balance in all areas of health and wellness is the key for me. Wellness is a journey, not a destination. I want to help people successfully navigate that journey.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Alabama.
